MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The second-ranked Barry Buccaneers have been just as impressive in the classroom as defenders Ashley Harlan and Katie Turner were named to the 2014 NCAA Division II Capital One Academic All-South Region Women's Soccer Team.

Harlan, a senior from Thornton, Colo., carries a 3.65 GPA in public relations, while Turner, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nev., has a 3.64 GPA in biology.

The pair has led the Bucs to a 10-1-2 mark this season and on the cusp of defending their Sunshine State Conference regular season title. The Bucs lead the SSC in goals against average, yielding just 0.67 goals per game. Harlan is also second on the team with four assists, while Turner is the only player on the team to have played every minute of the season.

First-team Academic All-Region soccer honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the second year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America ® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.

About the Capital One Academic All-America® Program

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
