KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Barry Buccaneers continued to reap the rewards of an outstanding season, as five players were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America women’s soccer All-South Region team.

Senior keeper Becca Rogers and junior midfielder Lavinia Nkomo reprised their first-team selections from the Daktronics All-Region team and were joined by senior defender Ashley Harlan. Sophomore defender Katie Turner and freshman midfielder Christy Grimshaw were named to the second team.

Rogers was the top keeper in the Sunshine State Conference with a 0.56 goals against average. She led the league in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts in the regular season.

Nkomo, the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, led the Bucs in goals and points.  She had two game-winning goals, against Rollins on Oct. 4 and against Eckerd on Nov. 1, and was named the SSC Player of the Week for Nov. 3.

Harlan was second on the team in assists and helped the team to the top defensive marks in the conference for the second straight year.

Turner, the only Buccaneer who played every minute of the season, and Grimshaw, who was the Freshman of the Year in the SSC, were named to the second-team.

Rogers, Nkomo and Harlan now move on to the national ballot.
