MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Barry University's Yunio Barrueta was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week. It is the second straight week he's earned the award.

Barrueta, a 6-foot-6 junior forward from Miami, averaged 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as the No. 7/8 Buccaneers beat Rollins and Palm Beach Atlantic. He had 28 points and 10 rebounds in an 83-66 victory over PBA Saturday at home. It was his fifth double-double of the season. Barrueta had 19 points and nine boards in a 73-64 win at Rollins Wednesday.

Barrueta, a transfer from East Tennessee State, is averaging a team-best 19.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this year for the 11-1 Bucs.

This marks the third straight SSC Player of the Week honor for Barry. Anders Haas won the final award of 2014.

Barry hosts Florida Tech at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Nova Southeastern 4 p.m. Saturday in the Health & Sports Center.
