MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Two members of the Barry University men’s soccer team earned Academic All-Region for their excellence on the field, in the community but most importantly in the classroom.

Sophomore midfielder Connor Randel was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team for the first time in his career. Randel led the Buccaneers in points and goals (5) this fall while maintaining a 3.97 grade point average. A Finance major, Randel earned a spot on the President’s list last spring with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Senior defender Joe Conkleton also earned Capital One All-District Honors for the second time in as many years. The former All-American completed a spectacular four-year career with the Bucs this fall and finished second all-time in program history with over 6200 minutes played. Throughout his career he’s been named to the President’s List (4.0 GPA) 2009,'11, Dean’s List (3.5-3.99 GPA) 2009-'11, Athletic Director’s List (3.2-3.499 GPA) and SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll three consecutive seasons.

Both Buccaneers were evaluated in their achievements on the field, in the classroom as well as in the community. The Buccaneer team participated in the Calvary Church in Fort Lauderdale Youth Soccer and Miami Lakes Soccer Academy programs, coaching clinics and leagues as part of community service.
