MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Just off from winning their second consecutive SSC conference title, Barry Women's Soccer continues to fill the trophy case as they won four of the five major awards and had six players named to the All-SSC Team.

Denise Brolly was named SSC Coach of the Year for the second straght year, her first two years as a head coach and had three of her players given awards as well.

Junior midfielder Lavinia Nkomo was named SSC Player of the Year. She is the seventh Barry player to earn the honor (Jenny Nilsson, 1999; Ashley Snell, 2000; Emelie Karlsson, 2002-2003-2005; Tiina Saario (2004). She led the Bucs with six goals this season and controlled play in the midfield.

Sophomore defender Katie Turner was named SSC co-Defensive Player of the Year. She is the second Barry player to earn the award (Becca Rogers, 2013). She played every minute this season, the only player on the team to do so, and helped the Bucs post a league-best goals against average (0.41) and seven shutouts in 14 games.

Freshmen midfielder Christy Grimshaw was named SSC Freshman of the Year. She is the fourth Barry player to be given the honor (Emelie Karlsson, 2002; Melissa Madrid, 2009; Emma Karp, 2010).

Alongside the award winners, junior forward Shanice Robe, senior defender Ashley Harlan and senior  keeper Becca Rogers were named to the First Team. Junior midfielder Tamara Vuckovich was named Second Team All-SSC. This is the second time being named to the all-conference team for Nkomo, Harlan, Rodgers and Vukovich.

The Bucs look to add to their collection as they take on Tampa on Nov. 7 in the semifinal of the SSC Tournament.
