ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.—The Barr Buccaneers fell twice to the 16th-ranked Flagler Saints 2-0 and 6-1 at Flagler Field on Tuesday night.
The Saints (16-6) scored the only two runs in the first game on RBI singles by Molly Oliver and Lauren Bessent in the fourth inning.
Kalyn Loverich (8-4) tossed a two-hit shutout, walking two and striking out five. Alexis Yohe (5-4) was tagged with the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in four innings.
In the nightcap, the Saints scored single runs in the first and second innings. The Bucs (12-9) cut the lead to one on a an RBI single by Alexis Kent in the fourth inning.
But Flagler scored two more in the bottom of the frame, on a two-run homer by Tori Jolley, and two in the sixth on a two-run single by Marisa Blake.
Katie Enright (7-1) went the distance for the Saints, scattering seven hits and two walks and striking out four. Taylor Sabol (1-1) took the loss for the Bucs. She allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks.
The Bucs return home on Friday and Saturday to host the Florida Southern Mocs in a Sunshine State Conference series. Friday’s single game is at 7:00 pm, while Saturday’s doubleheader starts at noon.
