Katie McCrath was named Barry’s full-time assistant coach in 2011. McCrath previously served as a graduate assistant coach at Barry from 2006-08.
McCrath served as the head volleyball coach at Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale. While at Westminster, McCrath guided the Lions to regional championships in 2009 and 2010, and the team finished as the runner-up in the Florida High School Athletic Association’s 2A championship in 2010. For her efforts, McCrath was named the Sun Sentinel 2A Coach of the Year in 2010.
Prior to Westminster, McCrath served as a graduate assistant coach for the Buccaneers for two years. While at Barry, McCrath helped the Bucs to a 27-32 record. She was responsible for coordinating travel plans and daily team operations, in addition to assisting the head coach in all training activities and on-court coaching.
McCrath has been heavily involved with USA Volleyball throughout her coaching career. In 2008, she interned with USAV, working in volleyball development. In addition, she has coaching experience in the junior club circuits, working with Boomers Volleyball Club of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Cascade Volleyball Club in Seattle, Wash.
McCrath played three years at Seattle Pacific, where she was a three-year starter for the Falcons. She served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons, earning GNAC Honorable Mention and First-Team All-GNAC honors, respectively. She was also a two-time GNAC All-Academic Team selection.
Prior to her stint at SPU, McCrath played one season at NCAA Division I East Tennessee State in the Atlantic Sun Conference, where she was among the team leaders in digs.
At South Kitsap High, she was a three-time All-Narrows Bridge selection, league MVP and South Kitsap Female Athlete of the Year. She also played four years for Puget Sound volleyball club.
McCrath received her bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in marketing from SPU in 2006 and her MBA from Barry in 2009.
