MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers saw their school-record win streak end in a 6-1 loss to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at Feinbloom Field on Tuesday.

The Bucs (6-1) had opened the season with six straight wins, breaking the mark of five set in 1987, but gave up five unearned runs on four errors which proved the difference in the game.

After giving up a run in the first, the Bucs tied it 1-1 on an RBI single by Mike Slabach in the third, which scored Zac Burger.

But the Sailfish (7-2) scored twice in the fifth, twice in the seventh and one more in the ninth to walk away with the victory.

Jonathan Kies (1-1) worked six innings, allowing one run on five hits and four walks and struck out five. Billy Atkins (1-1) took the loss for the Bucs. He gave up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and a walk in five innings, striking out four.

Slabach and Tyler Kellman each had two hits to lead Barry, while Karl Kapinos has two hits for PBA and drove in three runs and Joel Buchko added a pair of hits as well. Anthony Ortiz scored four runs for the Sailfish.

The Bucs open Sunshine State Conference play the weekend, hosting Florida Tech in a single game at 6:00 pm on Friday and doubleheader at noon on Saturday. Games will be carried live on the Buccaneer Broadcasting network powered by Stretch Internet.
