BOCA RATON, Fla. – Barry University women’s basketball team lost at Lynn, 64-55, Wednesday night.
The Buccaneers (12-9, 4-8 SSC) had a seven-point lead with 8:33 to play, but Lynn (15-7, 8-4) closed the game with a 27-11 outburst the rest of the way.
Lynn’s Kira Harvey sank two technical free throws and then hit two more from the line with 4:54 to play to give the Fighting Knights a 53-48 lead. Barry’s Tyler Hardy had a three-point play with 4:12 remaining to tie the game at 53-53.
Harvey hit a jumper with 1:27 left to put Lynn ahead, 58-53. The Knights extended their lead to nine before Hardy canned a jumper with 24 seconds left. But neither team scored the rest of the way.
Hardy finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Lynn outscored Barry, 12-0, in bench production. The game featured eight ties and seven lead changes.
Hardy’s ball fake and layup gave Barry a 28-23 lead with 15:42 to play. Harvey hit two free throws to give Lynn a 29-28 lead at the 13:30 mark before Colette Eule converted a three-point play on the other end to regain control for the Buccaneers.
Eule’s triple with 10:02 left gave Barry a 39-35 lead. Jackie Perez’s steal and successive layup in transition extended the Bucs lead to 44-37. Shatorria Baker’s three helped Lynn trim the gap to 44-2 with 6:57 to go, and Charla Nelson James’ two free throws tied the game 25 seconds later.
The Buccaneers led 22-21 at halftime. Barry and Lynn each hit nine field goals in the first half.
Eule had 15 points and five boards. Dixon had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. Perez scored eight points and had two steals.
