Twelker Wins SSC Women's Tennis Player of Week

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis player Kimmy Twelker was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, presented by VALIC.

Twelker went 3-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles in four matches last, beginning with Bucs fifth-year coach Avi Kigel's milestone 100th career victory over Nova Southeastern Wednesday. A Bad Liebenzell, Germany, native, Twelker won two singles matches and was leading in another when the final team point was clinched in Valdosta, Ga., as the No. 4 nationally-ranked Buccaneers (10-0) beat No. 10 West Florida, No. 50 Clayton State and Valdosta State last weekend. Twelker won all three of her doubles matches in Georgia, partnering with Linda Fritschken at the No. 2 flight.

Twelker improved to 6-0 in singles and 9-0 in doubles, all her pairs matches with Fritschken.

Barry will play three matches in Texas this week, beginning noon Wednesday at No. 3 Abilene Christian. The Bucs also play at No. 22 St. Edward's 9 a.m. Thursday and at No. 33 Incarnate Word 10 a.m. Friday.
