Baseball Drops Series Finale Against Panthers

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Barry University’s baseball team was unable to complete the three-game sweep of Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Tech Sunday afternoon as the Bucs dropped the final matchup, 9-1.

Barry (25-17, 6-12 SSC) put together ten hits, but had just one run to show for it as the Bucs left eight runners on base in the game.

From the start, the Panthers (25-19, 9-12 SSC) took control of the game scoring runs in the first three innings to take a 7-0 lead. Blaine Duncan (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up six runs in just 1.1 innings of work.

The Buccaneers’ lone run came in the top of the seventh inning on Luis Rios-Reyes’ RBI single up the middle.

Jesse Montalto tossed 4.2 innings in relief and struck out three while also allowing three runs.
