Men's Basketball Announces 2014-15 Schedule

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University men’s basketball team will have 15 home games this season, including two against NCAA Division II ranked teams and four that advanced to the national tournament last year.

The Buccaneers will play exhibition games at 2013 NCAA Division I National Champion Louisville at the Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky, on Nov. 1, and at last year’s Final Four qualifier, Florida, in Gainesville on Nov. 6.

Barry will open the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 versus city rival Johnson & Wales in the Health & Sports Center. It marks the first of seven straight home games for the Bucs. Barry will sandwich a Tuesday, Nov. 25 7:30 p.m. tip-off with another Miami-area rival, Florida Memorial, with three straight Friday night games. Barry also hosts Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Nov. 21 and Sioux Falls (S.D.) on Nov. 28 as part of the Odio Thanksgiving Classic. Barry’s second game of its Thanksgiving Classic is set for Saturday, Nov. 29 against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras.

The Bucs open the Sunshine State Conference season with Saint Leo, an NCAA Tournament second round qualifier a year ago, at home Saturday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. The Bucs finish the 2014 portion of its home schedule against Indianapolis, which went 24-5 and was ranked 12th in the country on its way to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Barry will play Nyack and Winston Salem State in the Lynn Courtyard by Marriott Holiday Classic on Dec. 19-20 in Boca Raton. After the Christmas break, the Buccaneers return to conference play for two road games at Florida Southern, which was ranked No. 10 and hosted the NCAA Tournament South Regional last season, Jan. 3 and at Rollins Jan. 7.

The Bucs return home in 2015 for three straight home games beginning with future SSC member Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. The Bucs will play each of the SSC schools at home in 2015, concluding with a Feb. 21 Homecoming game versus Eckerd at 6 p.m. and against rival Lynn on Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Barry closes the regular season at Tampa, an NCAA Tournament qualifier last year, on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m.

The SSC Tournament is scheduled for March 6-8 at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Fla.
