Barry University's volleyball team will take its 3-1 record to Pennsylvania Friday and Saturday to compete in the East Stroudsburg Invitational.
The Buccaneers play Southern New Hampshire (4-2) at 4:30 p.m. Friday and West Chester (4-0) at 7 p.m. Barry meets host East Stroudsburg (3-1) at 10 a.m. Saturday and Pace (2-2) at noon.
Last year the Bucs beat Pace in three sets in the Shepherd Ram Rumble in Shepherdstown, W.V. The Setters are the only team in Pennsylvania the Bucs met last season.
Barry junior hitter Tasha Begon got off to a strong start in 2014, earning Hyatt Place Classic All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 3.21 kills per set at the season-opening tournament at Palm Beach Atlantic. Junior libero Brittany Jaco was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.79 digs per set in West Palm Beach.
Five Bucs all have 20 kills or more, including junior newcomer Victoria Fajardo, junior middle blocker Laine Cielena, freshman hitter Eva Raat, senior outside hitter Jayla Trombley and Begon. Setters Jasmine Serna and Jenny Trinidad each have over 70 assists.
Sophomore middle blocker Ivana Didanovic is coming off a career-high 10 blocks last weekend.
