SEASIDE, Calif. – Barry University men’s golf team found itself in fifth place after two rounds of the Cal State Monterey Bay Otter Invitational.

The No. 1-ranked Buccaneers shot 302-299 – 601 Monday. Nova Southeastern leads the 18-team tournament at 8-over 584. Monterey Bay is second at 12-over, British Columbia third at 16-over 592 and Simon Fraser fourth at 598.

Barry’s Mike Anderson is tied for eighth after shooting 73-74 -- 147 on the par-72, 7,024-yard Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Club course. He had five birdies in the opening round, and made four in the second.  Mario Beltran is tied for 10th. He shot 4-over 74-74 – 148.

Nico Cavero recovered from an opening-round 80 to card a 1-over 73 in the second round to enter the clubhouse at 153 in a tie for 30th. He had five birdies in the second round. Berry Jole shot 76-78 – 154, and is lumped in a tie for 36th. Juan Yumar shot 79-82 – 161.

Monterey Bay’s Robby Saloman and Nova Southeastern’s Richard Mansell are tied for the lead at 2-under 142. Monterey Bay’s Anton Rosen is a stroke behind. Nova’s Hunter O’Mahony is fourth at 1-over 145.
