MIAMI SHORES, FL— Barry rower Beth Desmond has been invited to and accepted a chance to participate in a US Rowing camp that will determine who will represent the United States in women’s rowing at the World University Games this summer in Gwangju, South Korea.

The World University Games are an international multi-sport event, similar to the Olympics, organized for university and college athletes from all over the world.

Desmond, a junior from Cape May, New Jersey, has helped lead Barry to five race wins, a second place finish in the NCAA championships and has been named to the All-Sunshine State Conference team last year and the SSC All-Freshman team her first year with the Bucs.

She will be competing for three days starting Friday, January 16th and will find out the following Monday if she was selected to represent her country.

Desmond and the rest of Barry rowing begin their quest for championships on March 21 as they compete in the Columbia/FIT Regatta.
