Victorious Over Valdosta: Men's Tennis Wins Again

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Leo Vivas, Romain Costamagna and Max Wimmer all won two matches as No. 4 Barry beat Valdosta State, 7-2, Saturday in the second of three men's tennis matches this weekend.

Vivas and Wimmer were 8-4 winners at No. 2 doubles. Ollie Lemaitre and Costamagna were 8-2 winners at No. 3. Barry's No. 2 nationally-ranked doubles team of Marco Mokrzycki and Fabian Groetsch were upset by Konstantin Kutschenko and Mario Navarro, 9-8 (7-4), at the No. 1 flight.

Vivas beat Taamo Haake, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5 singles. Wimmer was a 6-0, 6-2 victor over Navarro at No. 3. Costamagna defeated Jasyk, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 4.

Seventh-ranked nationally, Mokrzycki picked up a mental-boosting win over 11th-ranked Kutschenko, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Kevin Sielmann cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Andrew Harvin at No. 6.

The Buccaneers wrap up the Georgia trip against Abraham Baldwin Sunday before returning home for two matches at Buccaneer Tennis Center beginning Wednesday against the University of Pennsylvania.
