WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry University sophomore women's tennis player Linda Fritschken was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, presented by VALIC.

Fritschken, a Berlin, Germany native, becomes the fourth Buccaneer to win the award, and the second in as many weeks.

Fritschken led the No. 4 Buccaneers to three road wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Playing in the top singles slot and No. 2 doubles position, Fritschken was 2-0 in singles and picked up three doubles victories with Kimmy Twelker. In a 6-3 victory over No. 3 Abilene Christian, Fritschken, who is ranked No. 19 in NCAA Division II singles, defeated No. 5 Julia Mongin, 6-3, 6-4. She also combined with Twelker for an 8-5 triumph over the No. 14 tandem of Micah Hermsdorf and Hannah Kelley. In a 9-0 sweep against No. 22 St. Edward's, Fritschken blanked Alexandra Khadhyzan, 6-0, 6-0, and joined Twelker for an 8-2 win over Paige Rachel and Rafaela Haegele. The Bucs' duo was impressive again in Barry's 8-0 win over No. 33 Incarnate Word as they rolled past Nicole Karaklis and Malisa Vatanadilok, 8-1.

Fritschken is 8-0 in singles and 13-0 in doubles this season.
