Softball Sweeps SSC Players Of The Week

WINTER PARK, Fla.--Barry's Natalia Ojeda and Britney Pugh have been named Sunshine State Conference Softball Players of the Week presented by VALIC.

Senior shortstop Natalia Ojeda led the Buccaneers to a 4-1 weekly mark, including an SSC series sweep of Nova Southeastern. Ojeda batted .467 with two runs and two RBI. She tallied multiple hits in three games and had a double in a 6-1 win in the series opener against the Sharks. Batting in the lead-off position, Ojeda posted a .579 on-base percentage and showed discipline at the plate, drawing four walks. She concluded the week with a .533 slugging percentage and .900 fielding mark.

Junior Britney Pugh picked up a pair of complete-game victories for the Buccaneers. She tossed a 2-0 shutout against No. 20 Molloy. Working seven innings, Pugh scattered six hits with one walk. She struck out three. Pugh then recorded a 5-1 SSC win over Nova Southeastern. She permitted one earned run on five hits with no walks. She struck out four Shark batters. Pugh concluded the week with a 0.50 ERA.
