PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers fell twice in extra innings to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday at Lake Catherine Park. The Sailfish won both games in eight innings, 1-0 and 2-1.

Barry’s Alexis Yohe (12-7) carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of game one. Lauren Johnson broke it up with one out in the seventh when she tripled to right field. But Yohe worked out of the jam. After walking Camille Benito and Theresa Butler to load the bases, she got the next two batters to pop out to end the threat.

The Sailfish (20-18) finally broke through in the eighth. Mackenzie Johnson singled to right to lead off and pinch runner Sarah Gosciniak moved to second on a passed ball by Buccaneer catcher Kayla Monroy. After a sacrifice moved her to third, she scored on a fly ball from Brittany Jones.

The Bucs stranded eight runners in the game as Mary Pippin (6-3) scattered five hits and walked three in tossing the shutout. She struck out six. Yohe was tagged with the loss, despite not allowing an earned run. She held the Sailfish to two hits and two walks in 7.2 innings and struck out two.

In the nightcap, the Bucs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Alexis Kent led off with a double, one of three in the game for her, and pinch runner Kate Hehre scored one out later on a single by Megan Copeland.

The Sailfish tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. Johnson and Lauren Powell singled with one out and pinch runner Brianna Parker scored when Barry starter Britney Pugh (5-4) mishandled Chelsie Hershey’s come-backer.

In the eighth, Miranda Welch singled with two outs and Jen Hunter delivered the RBI with a double down the right field line.

Amber Johnson (12-7) earned the win for PBA. She allowed the one run on six hits and a walk and struck out three. Pugh was tagged with the loss. She allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and five walks and struck out one.

The Bucs travel next weekend to Boca Raton, Fla., to face the Lynn Fighting Knights in a key Sunshine State Conference series on Saturday and Sunday.
