FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Barry University's Linda Fritschken and Emma Onila won the Super Bowl tournament doubles title Sunday morning at the site of the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championships.

Fritschken and Onila, who won the doubles title in the USTA/ITA main event Friday, beat Fausthyara Pieterz and Joanna Savva of Tyler (Texas) Junior College, 6-4, 6-1, to claim the Super Bowl tournament.

The Buccaneers doubles team went 5-0 in the two events, which began Thursday.

At the Miami Invite in Coral Gables, Barry senior Cristina Valladares lost in the Green bracket third place match when she fell to Miami's Brittany Dubbins, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. Auburn's Jackie Kasler defeated fellow Buccaneer senior Akemi Maehama for seventh place in the Green, 6-3, 6-1. Maria Reis lost in the 15th place match to Purdue's Andjela Djokovic, 7-5, 6-3.

 In the Orange bracket, Barry sophomore Karina Goia fell to Purdue's Daniela Vidal, 7-5, 6-3, in the seventh place match. Bucs sophomore Elisabeth Abanda was a three-set loser to Purdue's Nicole Robinson, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. 

Barry sophomore Kimmy Twelker's match with Purdue's Lynda Xepoleas for 15th place was not played. 

The Buccaneers finish the fall season Nov. 1-3 at the Florida International Panther Invitational.
