Rowing's Varsity 8 Wins Dad Vail Repechage

PHILADELPHIA – Barry University rowing team's Varsity 8+ crew of coxswain Angela Dasch, stroke Beth Desmond, Kristina Boncheva, Luna Ugrenovic, Jelena Momirov, Paola Girotto, Sam McKenzie, Mandy Carper and bow Anais Foppoli won the Division II Repechage in 6:44.496 at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on Schuykill River.

The Buccaneers, ranked No. 4 in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing national poll, beat runner-up Mercyhurst (6:48.387) by nearly four seconds. San Diego was third in the six-crew race with a time of 6:51.929.

Barry’s win in the Repechage earned the Bucs a berth in the Heavyweight Final at 4 p.m. Saturday. Dad Vail is the largest collegiate regatta in North America.
