MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Head coach Steve McCrath has added seven newcomers for the 2014 season for the Barry University men’s soccer team. The class includes two transfers and five freshmen. By positions, it includes two keepers and five field players.

Midfielders Ruaridh Kay and Jordan Silverstone enter as juniors. Silverstone is a classic SSC midfielder with touch, composure and tactical ability. Kay is a big, physical presence in the midfield who should pair nicely with Nico Gerke to help the Bucs maintain possession. Both are from England, as is keeper James McGregor. McGregor, who hails from the same club system as current Buccaneers Ryan King and Michael Dodds, helped lead Gateshead FC to the FA Youth Alliance League championship and was named to the England Colleges U17 squad.

Three members of the class come from Germany. Defender Cameron Hansen led his Ramstein-American High team to the DODDS-Europe soccer championship and was a three-time All-Europe selection. Forward Frank Lustig is a tall, athletic striker from TSV Rain Am Lech in Germany. Linus Fischer, a tall, strong defender in the McCrath mold, played for FC Viktoria U19.

Keeper Michael Scheraldi, the lone American high school player in the class, led his Oviedo Lions to a 20-1-3 season and the semifinals of the 5A state tournament.
