MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- On Tuesday afternoon, Barry baseball players ran, hit, fielded and threw in front of 25 scouts from several Major League Baseball organizations in hopes of getting noticed and elevating their draft stock.

Starting out with a 60 year dash, the players’ intangibles were measured, analyzed and critiqued as the scouts looked for a potential playmaker for their ball clubs.

Only players in their junior year or who are 21 years or older are allowed to be drafted in the major leagues, but some younger players were able to show off their skills as well and gain valuable experience as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Barry’s current players are hoping to follow in the footsteps of Yan Gomes, who played at Barry in 2009 and has gone on to play professionally for the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians.
