Men's Golf 3rd in Latest GCAA Poll

NORMAN, Okla. -- Barry University men's golf team is ranked third in the Golf Coaches Association of America poll released Friday. It is the final poll of the fall season.

The Buccaneers, who were tied for second with South Carolina-Aiken in the previous NCAA Division II national rankings, received four first-place votes and 414 points. Aiken remained second with 418 points and two first-place votes. Nova Southeastern is first with 11 first-place votes and 440 points.

With 396 points Chico State is fourth, and Lynn, which received one first-place vote and 365 points, is fifth. Three other Sunshine State Conference schools, Saint Leo, Florida Southern and Florida Tech, are each ranked in the top 15, occupying the 12-14 spots, respectively. Along with Barry, Nova and Lynn, the league is represented by six of its nine schools in the poll.

Fellow SSC member Rollins is receiving votes. 

Barry will open the spring season Feb. 9-10 at the Matlock Collegiate Classic in Lakeland, Fla.
