Dave SandersonCongratulations on your acceptance to Barry University! As the Head Coach of the Women's Rowing team, I would like to personally extend you a welcome to the University. I want to let you know that Barry's rowing team offers incoming students, with little or no previous rowing experience, a chance to learn a new sport and compete at the NCAA Division II level. We are always looking for athletes who are highly-driven and want to continue to compete. Many student-athletes on our team have come from backgrounds in other sports such as: basketball, swimming, cross-country, volleyball and soccer.

Why row?

varsity 8First and foremost you will have an opportunity to be a part of a team and compete for Barry University. We train on the beautiful Indian Creek Waterway in Miami Beach and travel to races in Boston MA, Chattanooga TN, Philadelphia PA, and Sacramento CA. Many employers strongly favor hiring former collegiate rowers because they know those graduates come with a strong sense of confidence, commitment, responsibility, and the ability to work as a team. The University and Athletic Department are committed to the education and graduation of its student-athletes. Consistent with this commitment an academic support program is available to ensure that while you compete at a high level for the Rowing team; you never lose focus on why you came to Barry in the first place: your education.

What's next?

BoathouseThe coaching staff will be available on campus during the StART I on June 23-24 , StART II on June 26-27, and StART III on August 21-22. We will have a table set up in front of an eight-oared rowing shell. The boat is 60 feet long and 2 feet wide, so you can't miss it! We will have information about the rowing program, the date and time for an introductory meeting and coaches and varsity athletes to help answer questions. Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions via e-mail (the best way to reach me). See my contact information below.

I hope to see you on the water next fall,

Dave Sanderson
