WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry University's Varsity 8 has once again been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Boat of the Week presented by VALIC.

This marks the sixth time in as many opportunities Barry's 8 has won the league-wide honor. This is the final SSC Boat of the Week award of the season.

The Buccaneers won the Division II Eight title at the prestigious Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. Rowing in a field with six finalists, the Bucs posted a time of 6:44.192 to beat out second-place Nova Southeastern by nearly four seconds. With its regular season schedule completed, the Barry Eight has won 13 of its 14 races, including seven finals victories. Notching the win on Saturday were coxswain Gracie Horwitz (Chicago, Ill.), Kristina Boncheva (Sofia, Bulgaria), Anna Boada (Barcelona, Spain), Rosie Boncheva (Sofia, Bulgaria), Monika Kaminska (Walcz, Poland), Beth Desmond (Cape May, N.J.), Anais Foppoli (Thonon, France), Emma Howard (Newton Square, Pa.), and Kelly Harrison (Fairfax, Va.).

Barry will row in the NCAA Championships May 31-June 2 in Indianapolis.
