Women's Tennis Ranked No. 3 in Final Poll

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team finished the season with a No. 3 national ranking in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.

The Buccaneers went 27-1, advancing to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals. They won their fourth straight Sunshine State Conference championship, and completed their second consecutive unbeaten regular season.

Freshmen Elisabeth Abanda and Emma Onila received doubles All-American honors. The Bucs duo went 21-5, including a 5-2 record against nationally-ranked opponents.

Abanda and Onila beat No. 1 Barbora Krtickova and Aleksandra Filipovski, 8-6, in Barry's 5-4 victory over then-No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic on March 22 in Miami Shores. The Buccaneers pair finished the season with a No. 7 national ranking.

Sophomore Linda Fritschken was left out of the singles rankings, despite going 20-1 with 18 straight wins to end the season. She defeated the Nos. 5-, 14- and 13-ranked players in Division II.
