MONTGOMERY, Ala.—The Barry Buccaneers (8-2) invoked the 10-run mercy rule to defeat the Tuskegee Tigers 11-1 in eight innings in baseball action at Paterson Field on Sunday, as the Bucs swept the series.

Nate Greve (1-0), making the first start of his career, went six solid innings, allowing just one run on three hits and striking out five. He did not walk a batter.

The Bucs posted a big inning again on Sunday, this time against the Tigers’ (2-4) bullpen. Leading 4-1 heading into the eighth, the Bucs pushed across seven runs on five hits. Adrian English had a two-run double and JC Cardenas capped it with a two-run single.

Barry scored three in the third inning off Tiger starter Cameron Summers. Carlos Matamoros and English walked to lead off the inning and one out later, Greg Brodzinski was hit by Summers to load the bases. Summers got an infield fly, but then surrendered a three-run double to Luis Rios-Reyes, his second of the series.

In the fourth, the Bucs got a gift run. Khalil Denson singled and went to third when Summers’ pick-off move went astray. Denson then scored on a balk.

Summers (1-1) went 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits, five walks and four hit batters.

Cardenas was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Denson had two hits and scored twice. English went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs and two RBI. Cash Oliver belted a solo homer in the fourth inning off Greve to account for the Tigers only run.

The Bucs return home next weekend, hosting Wisconsin-Parkside in a four-game set at Feinbloom Field on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
