SKILLMAN, N.J. -- Barry University men's tennis team is ranked No. 2 in the spring's first NCAA Division II national poll, as released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Wednesday.

The Buccaneers (15-2) lost to West Florida and Hawai'i Pacific while holding the top spot in the last poll, released in late February. The ITA releases a Division II national poll, as voted on by coaches who belong to the ITA, for teams and individuals at the end of the fall season. A national poll is released on a monthly basis after the spring season begins. The first individual rankings of the spring are released in late March. National rankings are based on region rankings, which are released a week earlier.

Barry was ranked No. 2 in last week's South Region poll.

West Florida is No. 1 in the region and national poll. Hawai'i Pacific is No. 3 nationally, Saint Leo is No. 4 and Armstrong Atlantic No. 5.

Barry's Ahmed Triki is ranked No. 8 in the nation in singles. Fabian Groetsch is No. 11. Triki and Ollie Lemaitre are ranked No. 2 in doubles.

In the South Region poll, Triki is No. 2 in singles, while Groetsch is fourth. Triki and Lemaitre are No. 1 in doubles, and Leo Vivas and Romain Costamagna are 10th.

Barry plays at No. 20 Rollins 10 a.m. Saturday and at Division I No. 60 Central Florida 10 a.m. Sunday.
