Women's Soccer Defeats Eckerd to win SSC title

ST.PETERSBURG, Fla.—Barry women’s soccer won the Sunshine State Conference Regular Season championship Saturday afternoon as they defeated Eckerd College 3-0 to complete an undefeated record in conference play.

The Bucs thoroughly dominated the game as they outshot the Tritons 18-4 and forced six saves while Becca Rodgers only had to make one save the whole game.

Barry went up 2-0 in the first half off of goals by Lavinia Nkomo in the 13th minute and Christy Grimshaw in the 30th minute. They also traded assists on the goals.

Barry put the game away and secured their championship when Rayah Seckler scored the Bucs’ third goal of the game off a cross by Lauren Manna in the 78th minute.

This is the 8th SSC title for Barry Women's Soccer and the second in a row for head coach Denise Brolly's squad.

The Bucs will take on the winner of the Tampa/Eckerd matchup in the SSC Tournament semifinals on Friday, November 7th at Buccaneer Field.
