Men's Basketball Halts 3-Game Skid at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Barry University men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak, winning for the third time this season on Lynn’s home floor.
 
Barry beat host Lynn, 65-61, Wednesday night, at de Hornle Center. It was the Buccaneers first win over Lynn this year, but their third on the court. Barry also won a pair of close games at Lynn in a pre-Christmas tournament.
 
The win moved Barry within a game of the .500 mark with five regular season games remaining.
 
Justin McCoy scored 23 points, and Magne Fivelstad had a career-high 20 points, six rebounds and two steals for the Bucs (10-11, 4-8 SSC).
 
Fivelstad sank two free throws with 22 seconds left to give the Buccaneers a five-point lead before Pavle Raickovic’s putback with 17 seconds left made it a one-possession game. But McCoy sank two free throws to push the lead back to five. 

Filip Toric had 11 points and four rebounds for Barry, which shot 17 of 47 from the field. Lynn was 21 of 48.
 
Raickovic scored with 3:58 remaining to tie the game at 50-50. McCoy knocked down a triple to put Barry ahead 56-51 with 2:15 left. Lynn’s Kaleb Clyburn hit a triple to bring the Fighting Knights within two. Damien Dwaine sank two free throws with 37 seconds remaining to push Barry’s lead back to four.
 
The Bucs were 28 of 32 from the free throw line. Lynn was 10 of 15.
 
Toric hit a jumper to put the Buccaneers ahead, 32-29, early in the second half. McCoy sank three free throws with over 15:00 left to give Barry a five-point lead. Clyburn sank a triple to tie the game at 39-39 with 9:53 to play. Toric scored on a putback to give the Buccaneers a 45-44 lead with 7:10 to play.
 
Barry trailed 25-23 at halftime. The Bucs were 0 of 9 from three-point range in the first half. Lynn committed eight first-half turnovers, while Barry had just one.
 
The Buccaneers bench was outscored, 34-6.
