VANCOUVER, B.C. – Barry University men’s golfer Adam Svensson won his third straight Saputo Vancouver Open Amateur Championship. The Surrey, Vancouver, B.C. native took home the honors by shooting a spectacular 9-under par for 54 holes to win the title by three shots over Kevin Ko.

Svensson won the amateur title, shooting 68-67-70 – 205. His overall score of 205 was a personal best in his three consecutive Vancouver Open Amateur wins, beating the mark of 208 he set in 2011.

Svensson finished 12th overall in the tournament. Chris Epperson won the overall title in a sudden death playoff after finishing at 14-under with two other players.

This is Svensson’s second win since receiving the Phil Mickleson Award, given to the Most Outstanding Freshman Golfer in the nation, well as being named a First-Team Ping All-American.

Winning the Vancouver Open amateur championship continues an impressive run by Svensson. In the past couple of months, Svensson led Barry to the program’s second NCAA Division II National Championship, and won the prestigious Ontario Amateur.
