SAINT LEO, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team beat Saint Leo in a match that lasted roughly seven hours Friday. The win moved the No. 3 Buccaneers to 6-0 overall, 5-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Saint Leo fell to 2-2 overall, 1-2 in the league.

Two of the three doubles matches went to a tiebreaker, and four singles matches needed a third set or tiebreaker to decide things. Only Barry sophomore Emma Onila's 6-3, 6-1 win over Coralie Pesenti at No. 1 singles and Bucs sophomore Elisabeth Abanda's 6-1, 6-3 victory over Paula Montoya at No. 5 were decided in straight sets.

Barry's No. 1 doubles team of Onila and Linda Fritschken survived a 9-8 (9-7) battle from Anastasia Wagner and Paula Montoya. Barry's No. 2 duo of Anaeve Pain and Kimmy Twelker got by Laura Kemkes and Pauline Helgesson, 8-6. Saint Leo's No. 3 team of Maria Benkirane and Adriana Daszkiewicz beat Karina Goia and Isabela Miro, 9-8 (7-5).

Barry's Linda Fritschken needed three sets to defeat Wagner, 0-6, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2. Goia won a lengthy battle with Kemkes at No. 3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-0), 11-9. Pain was a 6-1, 5-7, 10-5 winner over Benkirane at No. 4. Helgesson defeated Barry's Blanka Szavay, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. 

The Bucs play at Eckerd 10 a.m. Saturday.
