MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University No. 2 men’s tennis team will host No. 8 Lynn at 10 a.m. Sunday for the Sunshine State Conference regular season title.

This marks the first year the SSC will award a regular season champion in tennis.

“I think it’s an exciting change for our conference teams,” said Buccaneers’ 23-year head coach George Samuel. “It adds a little bit more interest. Because of that, I think the entire team and myself are excited about going into this final round.”

Sunday’s match is Senior Day for the Buccaneers. Seniors Leo Vivas, Ollie Lemaitre and Romain Costamagna will be recognized as they play their final regular season matches at Buccaneer Tennis Center.

Barry brings a 16-2 overall, and 5-0 SSC record into the match at Buccaneer Tennis Center. Lynn is 12-4 overall, 5-0 in the league.

Barry’s Ahmed Triki is ranked No. 8 in the country in singles. Fabian Groetsch is No 11. Triki and Lemaitre are No. 3 in the nation in doubles. Lynn’s Vlad Cirla is No. 17 in the country in singles. Danny Riggs is 36th, and Tomas Prokop is 37th.

“We don’t anticipate an easy match,” Samuel said. “We know Lynn is always competitive, especially against us, and vice versa. We just hope we come out from the beginning playing our best.”
