Women's Golf Takes Early Lead at Ross Resorts

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- Barry University women's golf team shot 304-304 -- 608 to take the lead after two rounds of the Ross Resorts Invitational Monday hosted by Rollins College.

The Buccaneers lead Nova Southeastern by five strokes after 36 holes on the par-72, 6,171-yard Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club course. Rollins is third at 620.

The first-day leader is Liliana Cammisa of Nova Southeastern, who shot 71-74 -- 145. Rollins' Madison Lellyo is second at 148, and Florida Southern's Abbey Williams third at 149. 

Barry junior Nicky Ferre shot 76-74 -- 150, and is fourth. Sophomore Martina Bertuccioli shot 73-78 -- 151, and is tied with Nova's Jamie Freedman for fifth. 

Junior Maria Paola Fiorio shot 78-75 -- 153, and is eighth. Buccaneers senior Nancy Vergara shot 77-81 -- 158, and is tied for 15th. Senior Daniela Murray shot 82-77 -- 159, and is tied for 19th in the 48-player field.

Play will conclude Tuesday in the 54-hole tournament.
