SUMTER, S.C. – Barry University men’s tennis’ Fabian Groetsch defeated Manuel Righi of Concordia (N.Y.), 6-4, 6-3, for third place in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Small College Championships.
Groetsch, the No. 2 seed, went 2-1 in the eight-region NCAA Division II tournament at Palmetto Tennis Center. Righi was the fourth seed.
Armstrong Atlantic’s Fernando Bogajo, who beat Groetsch in the semifinals, won the singles title, beating top-seed Armand Levandi of Lewis, 6-1, 6-4, in the finals.
Barry will compete in the Pembroke Lakes Tennis Championships next weekend in Pembroke Pines, Fla.
