Barry University men’s basketball team is ranked No. 9 in this week’s National Association of Basketball Coaches poll, released Tuesday. Barry is No. 11 in the NCAA Division II media poll sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

This marks the first time in school history the Bucs (6-0) have been ranked in the Top 10 in the coaches poll. It is also the first time Barry has appeared in the NABC poll for three consecutive weeks.

The Buccaneers received 254 points in the NABC this week. West Liberty (W.Va.) remained No. 1 with 14 first-place votes and 396 points. Bellarmine (Ky.) is No. 2 with two first-place votes and 383 points.

In the D2SIDA media poll, Barry earned 193 points. West Liberty is No. 1 in that poll as well, having collected eight first-place votes and 337 points. Florida Southern is No. 2 with four first-place votes and 325 points.

Barry hosts No. 12/14 Indianapolis (7-0) at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday in the marquee game of the Cruzin’ Classic in the Health & Sports Center on campus.

“We’re really honored to be a part of what will be a really big game nationally,” Barry second-year coach Butch Estes said. “The Cruzin’ Classic … invited us to be a part of this. We’re fortunate enough to host it. It’ll be such a great opportunity for our fans, and of course our players and even our coaches to play against a team of this quality.”
