A Unique Endowment

To reach this impressive goal, the faculty decided five years ago to write their own lab manuals for their physics and chemistry classes and deposit all the money made from this effort into a savings account needed to establish the endowed scholarship. Since starting the endeavor, the department has managed to save the $25,000 needed to establish the scholarship, while still awarding a $500 scholarship each semester. Traditionally, endowed scholarships are the result of large donations from corporations, foundations or wealthy individuals, making this new endowment extremely unique.
