Barry University senior biology major Lina Arencibia received national recognition in November at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) for her work in molecular biology. The annual conference is the largest multidisciplinary student conference in the United States.
Arencibia received one of 10 certificates of achievement for research she performed last summer through an undergraduate research program at the University of California San Francisco. The research focused on the fly-3 molecule. The location of the molecule within the cell assists cell regulatory mechanisms, which determines fat balance within many tissues.
