Best foot forward
From its modest beginnings in 1985 to its status as one of the most respected podiatric schools in the country, Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine has had a lot to be thankful for over the past 25 years. On January 10, 2010, the school will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a “Barefoot Ball.” The Florida-themed gala will take place at the Caribe Royal Resort in Orlando, Florida, during the Florida Podiatric Medical Association’s (FPMA) annual Science and Management Symposium.
Funds raised from the anniversary celebration will benefit the Dr. Marvin and Ruth Steinberg Memorial Scholarship at Barry University. The scholarship helps podiatric medical students fund the cost of their education.
“In the last 25 years, Barry’s School of Podiatric Medicine became, not only the first in the southern region of the United States, but also the first to be associated with a comprehensive institution of higher education,” said Dr. John Nelson, interim dean. “The success and longevity of our program is a testament to the outstanding faculty and staff that make up the School of Podiatric Medicine, not to mention the dedicated students that graduate from our University and go on to become some of the best doctors in the field.”.
Tickets for the gala may be purchased on-line at www.barry.edu/podiatry.
