Suzanne Gail SickoSuzanne Gail Sicko

Suzanne Gail (Hargadon) graduated from Barry University’s Adrian Dominican School of Education in 1958 earning a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in elementary/early childhood education. After teaching for several years, she went on to work in the field of diplomacy and international relations. In her first post, she served as the secretary to the commercial attaché at the United States embassy to Sudan. But her real love, teaching, called her back and she was recognized as an Outstanding Teacher in Fairfax County, Virginia.

As a continuous donor to Barry University’s Annual Fund, her priority was supporting student scholarships. In 1996, she established an endowed scholarship to honor her aunt Mildred Anne Browne. In 1997, when her lifetime giving history passed the $10,000 benchmark, Ms. Sicko was inducted into Barry University’s Order of the Flame. Her family noted that she always held Barry students close to her heart and was very grateful for her Barry College experience.

To honor her memory and her commitment to educating young minds, her family has established the Suzanne Gail Sicko Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will support education majors in memory of this excellent teacher, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ms.Sicko is picture here with her granddaughter Emma.

To contribute to the Gail Sicko Memorial Scholarship, please send your gift to Tom Severino, associate vice president for institutional advancement, Barry University, 11300 NE Second Ave., Miami Shores, FL, 33161. Write checks to “Barry University” and place “Sicko Memorial Scholarship” in the memo.
