The Sound of Music

The one-year partnership agreement provides SBCE the opportunity to perform during some of the university’s theatrical productions as well as at ensemble-only performances.

The SBCE’s first performance as ensemble-in-residence was February 13-15 during the opera production of “L’Elisir D’Amore (Elixir of Love)” in the Broad Center for the Performing Arts. The ensemble will perform solo pieces May 19 and September 15 in the Andy Gato Gallery.

Founded in 1997, SBCE’s mission is to promote and perform chamber music in all of its diverse forms. The ensemble performs works by various composers, including Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Haydn, Schubert, Saint-Saens, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Poulenc, Couperin, Turina, Piazzolla and Villa-Lobos, with special emphasis on string quartets and piano trios.
