The ‘Golden Girls’
The Alumni Association hosted its annual Alumni Reunion Weekend March 12 -14 for the class of 1960. Alumnae from across the country attended and reminisced about the days when then Barry College was an all-girls school.
The festivities began March 12, with a “Back to College Experience” at the Miami Shores campus. Starting from the Cor Jesu Chapel, the alumnae took a guided tour of campus hosted by current students. They also joined an alumni ambassador and sat in a class of their choice to engage with faculty and students in an interactive learning experience. The day concluded with a luncheon in the Roussell Dining Hall at the Landon Student Union.
For some down time on March 13, the women and their families had an opportunity to relax and enjoy a dinner at Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita in Miami.
The morning of March 14 started with an alumni mass in the Cor Jesu Chapel. After mass, the Alumni Association hosted a champagne brunch at the Andy Gato Gallery. At the event, Barry President Sister Linda Bevilacqua OP, PhD, presented fellow alumnae with awards inducting them into the Golden Shield Society. The society honors alumnae celebrating their 50th anniversary as Barry graduates.
