Goal setters

The men’s soccer team accomplished a lot this season with their stellar play. As a team, they won the Sunshine State Conference Tournament championship, and received their first NCAA Tournament berth since the 2003 season.

This team had great performances from many players, but two really stood out. Junior midfielder Sascha Koettig (right) and sophomore forward Mark Anderson (left) both received several awards for their individual play.

Koettig, who was named a captain this year for his leadership, was an honorable mention to the Daktronics All-America team. Koettig nearly doubled his goals total from last season, posting seven this year. The midfielder also added two more assists from his 2008 total with eight.

Anderson was named a second-team Daktronics All-American. He also earned first-team All-Sunshine State Conference honors and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the SSC Tournament. Anderson finished the season by earning second-team NSCAA/Performance Subaru All-American honors. Both Anderson and Koettig will return next year with their eyes set on the NCAA tournament.
