Silvia Maciá, PhD (PhD University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science) is currently researching mating behaviors of pipefishes. Her research program involves both field and laboratory work and has involved several undergraduate students. Dr. Maciá has also conducted research on the ecology of sea urchins in seagrass and coral reef habitats, foraging behavior of seagrass fishes, and the reproduction and ecology of sea-urchin associated shrimp. She teaches classes in marine biology, ecology, and environmental science, as well as introductory biology for non-majors.
