Preparing you for Medical School or Professional Research

Barry University 's Master of Science in Biomedical Science offers 3 different program options, designed to prepare you to meet your professional goals:

An accelerated, 1-year program, for students who have completed their undergraduate pre-med preparation and want to enhance their qualifications for entrance into medical school.
An 18-month / 2-year program, also designed to prepare students for acceptance to medical and dental schools, but at a slightly less rigorous pace.
An Industrial Track / Research program, designed for students who are currently employed in the health-care industry who seek advancement in their chosen field, those who wish to "cross-over" into the biomedical fields in industry or teaching, and those who are preparing for Ph.D. programs.

Our first two biomedical sciences program options are based on the traditional first-year of a medical or dental school's curriculum. While most other universities or colleges typically offer research and thesis-based programs that emphasize the sciences, we believe that the best way to help you succeed is to expose you to the both the didactic and the problem-based learning methods that you will use throughout your medical school experience. Medical schools have recognized this fact, and Barry has gained a reputation for developing well-prepared and qualified applicants.

Our third biomedical sciences program option gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in research through the development of a research project or a volunteer internship with a suitable company or institution. Research opportunities are available at local biomedical companies, enabling you to gain valuable research experience. The range of research fields is very broad, and includes immunology, cancer, pharmaceuticals, pharmacokinetics, bone marrow stem cell research, leukemia, terminal diseases, cardiovascular stints, and genetics.

"The Master in Biomedical Science Program is outstanding! I owe my medical school admission to Barry University and its fine professors." Josh B. Roach (Class of 1996): Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine

"Attending Barry University was one of my most rewarding and broadening experiences. It is the ultimate reason behind why I am now a first year medical student at University of South Florida College of Medicine. The Biomedical Sciences Program gave me an insight into actual medical school classes and allowed me an opportunity to learn at the graduate level among other very qualified students.

I would definitely recommend Barry University’s Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences to anyone considering medical, dental, or other health professional programs and desiring an unforgettable learning experience; my time at Barry was eye-opening and exceptional. It was an incredible learning environment filled with ambition, motivation, encouragement, and compassion."
Soha S. Patel (BMS 2006; USF College of Medicine class of 2010)
