Learn, Reflect, and Serve
Welcome to the Barry University School of Social Work BSW program website. The BSW program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to utilize what they learn in the classroom setting and apply it to generalist social work practice in diverse settings, such as community mental health centers, hospitals, schools, or child welfare agencies.
Our trauma-informed curriculum focuses on clinical social work practice at the individual, family, group, organizational, and systemic levels. Trauma informed intervention recognizes human vulnerability but focuses on finding and mobilizing survivors’ strengths, resources, and capacity for healing and recovery by promoting factors that will enhance a person’s resiliency.
Students develop an ability to critically analyze and evaluate research studies and apply the findings to everyday practice. Our focus is not only on the explicit but implicit curriculum, as we offer many opportunities for professional development and service learning. In addition, our students form lasting partnerships with faculty and our professors are committed to mentoring.
We have a national reputation for quality and have scholarships and discounts available that make this degree very affordable. My promise to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Work program at Barry University is that the School is there for the student from the moment they enter the door until long after they walk across the stage at graduation.
I invite you to explore our website and learn more about our students, faculty, and program.
