Living in South Florida

Recreation

You may not have much time to relax; still, if you can squeeze in a few hours for fun, what better place to be than South Florida? Barry's Miami Shores Campus is about a twenty-minute drive from the shore; about the same amount of time will take you to South Beach, with its museums, events, and nightlife; cultural and major sporting events are also easily accessed.

International Community

The South Florida and Barry communities will engage you with people from other cultures and different perspectives. Barry students are drawn from 49 states and 80 countries. In fact, for the seventh year in a row, U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges Edition ranked Barry as having the highest campus diversity among schools of our size in the Southeast. This environment invites exchange of ideas and creative solutions, giving you potential to develop a depth of understanding.

Opportunities for practical experience

Barry's South Florida location offers you excellent opportunities for obtaining practical experience. As you begin to work with clients of different ages and races in human service agencies throughout South Florida, you will encounter and learn to address some of the nation's most pressing social problems. The breadth of this exposure to people and to best practices is invaluable and can only be found in South Florida.
