Margaret Gutridge
BSW, Class of 2003
I grew up in the small town of Sebring, Florida, and originally decided to come to Barry for the soccer program. I arrived at Barry for the preseason and became the first person to enroll in the BSW program. I later became president of the Social Work Network and got involved with other organizations promoting social change. This was because of the experience I had as a student.
The BSW curriculum was extremely challenging, but I feel as though this was a benefit for me. I felt privileged to have quality, caring professors. My field placements were at Easter Seals and A Woman's Place. My placement at A Woman's Place was the best experience ever!
I look forward to going on for my MSW with a focus on community organization and policy.
