Dr. Tyler received his BS from Florida State University and his Ph.D. from the Florida International University. Dr. Tyler joined the Barry faculty in 1994. He has taught both undergraduate and graduate managerial and financial accounting courses since joining the Barry faculty. His research interests center on managerial accounting, especially executive compensation and governmental accounting. Dr. Tyler is very active in the community. He has coached over 50 youth soccer teams at the Southwest YMCA. Dr. Tyler is also extremely active in the Barry University community. He Chaired the Faculty Senate from 1997 - 1998, is currently the Advisor to Delta Sigma Pi -the Professional Business Fraternity and the Barry University Accounting Association. Dr. Tyler was selected as the Outstanding Faculty of the Year for Barry University for 2000.
Dr. Tyler received his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Florida International University in 1995. He has been a professor at Barry University for the 25 years and is currently the Coordinator of the Accounting Program. He currently teaches and conducts research in the areas of managerial (cost) accounting and financial accounting.
Dr. Tyler has extensive experience teaching internationally, including the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe. Prior to becoming an academic, Dr. Tyler was a stockbroker with Dean Witter (now Morgan Stanley). He is married and has two sons.
